Why we curate handmade products
Handmade products deserve time, attention, and a clear standard of care. We curate because customers want pieces that feel intentional, not random. Our role is to bring together items that align with the Vyanmai aesthetic: natural, earthy, and useful. When we choose a Kauna bag or basket, we are choosing it because it feels right for the customer who will carry it, place it in a room, or gift it to someone special.
How products are selected from trusted makers
We prefer makers and craft partners whose work shows steadiness in shape, finish, and material handling. The goal is to source pieces that feel reliable when you open the package, while still preserving the handmade character that makes each item unique. Trusted sourcing also helps us keep the experience calm and consistent for customers shopping online.
Material and finish check
Kauna grass and other natural fibres have a gentle, organic texture, and that texture should feel clean and purposeful. We look at the finish to make sure the surface is neat, the weave looks consistent, and the overall piece matches the product description. Slight irregularities are normal in handmade work, but anything that feels unfinished or weak is not something we want to pass on to customers.
Handle, stitching, shape, and usability check
For bags and totes, we pay attention to how the handle sits in the hand, how the body holds its shape, and whether the item feels suitable for daily carry. For baskets and storage pieces, we check the opening, symmetry, and stability. These are small details, but they matter because customers do not shop for craft alone. They shop for something they can actually use.
Packing check before shipping
Before dispatch, each order is checked once more so the piece that arrives at your door feels thoughtful and complete. Handles or woven areas are protected where needed, and the item is packed carefully to travel safely. We are mindful about the packaging process, but we only make claims that are true for the product and order in hand.
Natural variation is part of the handmade experience
Because these are handmade products, small differences in weave, colour tone, shape, and finish should be expected. We do not see those differences as defects when they are part of the natural craft process. In fact, they are often what make the product feel warm and human. If a product has a material or quality issue beyond that normal variation, we treat it as a separate concern and handle it through our support and policy process.
Honest curator and reseller positioning
We want the relationship with our customers to be clear. Vyanmai Handcrafts carefully selects and presents handmade products, but we may not manufacture every item directly. That is why we talk about sourcing, checking, and packing with care rather than pretending to be a factory. We believe honesty makes the brand stronger and makes the buying experience feel more comfortable.
